A "First Time" thing...
Wow. I have been up and about for the past few days/week that sitting down and typing this entry seems like a thing of the past.Ok. First things first. Since Nadia's return to Ipoh, yours truly tried her hand doing a few things she has never done before. Like:1. On Saturday, I had my first Egg Custard at the famous Kong Heng kopitiam in Ipoh's Old Town. We then headed to Madhu's to have my eyebrows threaded for the first time. It was also my first time watching how waxing is done to remove leg hair (but not mine of course! I am blessed with hairless legs.) After that, I took Nad to see Sara and play with the puppies at ISPCA. The rest of the day was spent driving around Ipoh in search of good food. If you ever need an Ipoh town guide, look for Nadia. She has the best sense of direction ever! We make a pretty good team - me the driver and Nadia the guide/walking map.2. Sunday, Gua Tempurung day! Whippee. It was Nad's first time caving and I'm glad she had a good time. I took the highway route there instead of the normal 'old road' route, thanks to Nadia's encouragement. It was my first time driving on a highway (I know, I know. I'm making a big deal out of it. But hey, I had my reason for not driving on highways before and the answer is one word beginning with the letter 'P'). After our 4 hour caving thingy, we went to Tapah for a delicious lunch of Petai and Fish. My first time eating petai. We then headed back to Ipoh safe and sound. 3. Monday was the day I saw the cute vet twice! (*heart still fluttering*) Anyway, Nadia and Pei Ling accompanied me when I took Sara to be microchipped. Mr. Vet's son is SO cute! Son looks like a mini version of the father. (i'm so jealous of his lucky wife). After we took Sara back to the ISPCA, Nadia and I headed to Ipoh Garden for our facial treatment appointment (which I backed out at the last minute). It was my first time watching how facial treatment was done. And em, all i can say is that, beauty comes with the price of PAIN! That done, we met up with Pei Ling at TGV for Gol & Gincu. To all anti-malaymovie peeps out there: Here's a local movie that's worth your time! After the movie was when I saw my cute vet again at Cashier counter number XX. Why why why?Kesimpulannya....It was a weekend well spent. And with wonderful friends. I must say, it was tons of fun instead of the typical "lets go clubbing/cafe-ing/hanging out at Jusco" thing that every young adult seems to be doing these days. Going around the REAL Ipoh gave me the chance to truly appreciate my town for both her beauty and decay. I discovered her hidden treasures that can never be compared or found anywhere else. Think of this coming from someone who has been to a considerable number of places and states in the US, before you jump in and say that Ipoh is a 'dead city of old people and retirees'. Have fun, all you who have returned to Ipoh for the holidays. Happy Merdeka.
Jangan merosakkan rumahtangga orang....
........................I'm head over heels in love with a Married Man! GAAAHHHThis afternoon was 'supposed' to be the last time i saw him...but then guess what, I saw him *again* in Jusco supermarket. Was this a sign???Worse of all, I waved too excitedly at him! *sniff* No more muka to go to his clinic again...Bak kata Sang Nadia dan Hang Pei Ling:
"Jangan merosakkan rumahtangga orang. Sudah ada isteri dan anak"......................When will another Prince Charming Vet turn come again? Xing Ling. Is. Simply. Pathetic.
doggieeee!!!!
Random picture from today's outing with Nadia. Will update next time after Gua Tempurung trippie!!!!*See my freshly threaded eyebrows?* WInk WInk
So much for my social life...
This week has been...SUPER duper B.U.S.Y for moi..
Sunday run: 6km on treadmill. Quality run. :)
Monday:
Headed down to KL to meet up with JPA on Tuesday.
Tuesday:
Met up with JPA and Adilla after that. She took me to 'Pete THE hairdresser'. My long fine mane was promptly chopped off. I miss it dearly, but it had to go. Why? Does who know me well should know.. But still...*sniff*
Wednesday:
Back in Ipoh and recuperating from K.L. air. Dropped in at ISPCA and took Sara girl to be vaccinated against rabies. On the way back from Gilbert's, Sara vomitted in the car. She prolly got a heatstroke. Poor dear. Why didn't I see it coming? I felt so terribly bad. Ugh I'm such a horrible dog owner. :( :( :(
Went to try out the new Citrus place with mum and sisters. Posh looking place. Food was good too. Yum. What did i have? I forget. :P
Thursday:
Went to ISPCA again, this time in the morning. Sara was looking good. So relieved. At least she looks like she has forgiven me. Took care of the doggies and played with the new puppies while sister was put to work with the cats!
Went out for lunch at Assam House with dad and sisters after that. The food was good but my sister claims i ate too little! Anyway, I should have learned by now that my stomach can't really take assam and curry. Needless to say, everything was purged out of my system by 3 trips to the toilet. By the next morning, every single morsel I think i downed went right out of my system.
Friday:
Made a trip to Kuala Kangsar to hand in my Larian Perpaduan form. The run's in 21 days and I'm not even half prepared! Gosh.!
Went with Uncle Sim to see EN Nawawi at the Jabatan Haiwan at Jalan Tasek concerning the permit thingy. I hope things work out so Sara can be with me for the next 2 years I am at US. Then I dropped in to see 'cute' Gilbert concerning her health cert and microchipping.
Did another quality 6km run on the treadmill this evening. Good Good. Thankful that I'm NOT out of shape as i thought I would be.
Coming soon!
Saturday:
Outing with Nad at Little India. Yay! But before that, lunchies at Kong Heng. Its gonna be my first time eating there since i returned!
Sunday:
GUA TEMPURUNG!!!!
Monday:
Take Sara to Gilbert's to be microchipped.
Oh and i almost forgot. I have been meaning to put up this lovely poem I *nicked* from Jacky's blog. Well, not really. I got this gentleman's permission. Hehe..Thanks, man. Well here it is:"Girls are like apples on trees-the best ones are at the top of the tree. The guys don’t want to reach for the good onesbecause they’re afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them when in reality they’re amazing. They just have to wait for the right guy to come along, the one who’s brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree."
Well, I didn't write this. I got this somewhere from someone else's blog. But I think it was kinda thought provoking. Whoever wrote this is quite a genius.
Training Record for Aug 14-20, 2005
Sun : 6km failure as mentioned in previous post
Mon: Exhausted from ISPCA
Tues: RAIN :(
Wed: 3K on home treadmill b/c of drizzle.
Thurs : Lazy :P *blek*
Fri : 7K but very bad. Had to stop every km.
Sat : ISPCA from 1pm-5pm
Met up with an old friend today at ISPCA. The first thing he said was... "WAH! SO FAT ALREADY?!"
I wanna kill that fella.
Got my revenge by naming a particularly skinny cat after him.
Are you happy now?
------------------------------------
Apparently, my sister had accidentally misdailed a number on my phone - and as fate would have it the way it sickeningly does, the person called back - complete with sms! Urgh. Dang it. How can like that wan.
Note to self: Never ever leave cellphone with someone else without remembering to LOCK THE KEYPAD!
Bah.
----------------------------------
How did she get here? hehe..Well....

Yay. Doreen let me and my sis take Sarala to be vaccinated at Ipoh Gdn East (the veterinarian was a cute guy! *wink* But I think he's married. *boo*). Sarala was such a good doggie in the car that even I was surprised. She just sat still next to me all the way to and fro. The only 'bad' thing she did was slobbering occasionally over me. Haha.

boobookootiepie...and me foot.
my babyyy....

Last week, while I was drying him after his bath...this little mutt fell asleep in my arms, bundled up with the cloth. Now everyone say: "awwwww..."
Smushed together..Look like mirror images, yes?

Tell you guys something. These two pups always fall into their Nestum every morning! So they smell of milk and Nestum everytime I hold them close. Hehehe.
Behold....the Acrobatic Pups!
I found out today that someone will be taking them away pretty soon, as there was someone who came by and wanted to adopt them. :( sniff*Oh, and Bobo was supposed to leave today at noon, but when I waited till half past twelve, his owners still hadn't turned up so I left. Got to give him ONE BIG HUG and snuggle for the last time. On RunningPlans to run today were canceled because of the rain. Last Sunday's run was BAD. VERY BAD. Attempted the usual 7K but i think i only managed 6K. I am in SUCH BAD SHAPE! Not that waking up at 6am every morning is helping. Oh, and something interesting. There was a free health check that came with some Brands supplements I bought for my sister and here are the results!Blood Pressure: 110/68 (Normal is 120/80)Glucose: 7.0 (Normal is <10.0)Cholesterol: 4.45 (Normal is <5.2mmol/l)Fat Content: 24.4% (Normal is 23%-31% for my age)Yay! And so now i know my bod's fat content! Makes me feel good to be 52.8kg at 160.5cm. Shows that my mass is made up of mostly bone and muscle. I used to think any weight above 50kg was BAD.
Some people just don't get it!
Last night, while Pei Ling and I were 'longkai-ing' around my area...
By the time i went home (my house was just a couple of blocks away), grabbed my camera, and got back to the area, the fire had died down..
Apa mau buat then?
Too bad we didn't know if there was a number we could call to report illegal open air burnings. Even if we did, would 'they' do anything about it?
The next morning...
Woke up..and realized that the color of the air around felt wierd (yeah, you can feel these things)...So I looked out my bedroom window and ...!!!!!
Sunday morning, at 9am.. My favorite 'monkey head' mountain isn't spared! Oh no.
I quickly went to the back of my house.....
And in my backyard, the haze could be seen engulfing the famous SEPET trees on top of my mountain. (Yes, MY mountain, because long before Sepet was, that mountain with its trees has been my favorite spot in Taman Perak).
Boo..bad air again. My training for Sungai Siput run was supposed to carry on through this weekend. I hope to run this evening. My 7km run on Thursday was disappointing as my stamina had decreased - BADLY! That's what I get for not running 2 whole weeks (due to KL trip, cousins from Australia, ISPCA, and bad air!). NOT MY FAULT!
Bobo is leaving...:( :( :( :( *sniff*

*manja-ing with ling ling ar...Bobo wan tummy rub arr...*
I know, it's very selfish of me, but I am so so so very sad that Bobo is leaving. I almost even feel bad for 'disciplining' him not to be so pushy and obnoxious to his kennel mates. But well, he will have a good home and nice owners to love and care for him.

Bobo's most obvious trait (to me, at least) is the way he stands. Look at his paws - they turn out at such a wierd angle. Haha. I always joke about his 'dumb-dumb' eyes and posture. BO-BO!!

Sigh...Well. I need to keep in mind, after all, that ISPCA's purpose for homing the dogs IS to give them up for adoption one day. I guess it just never dawned upon me that adoption could happen *anytime* to *any* dog.
Centipede bite!
Yesterday evening. The swell wasnt that big. So, Nah...How bad could it get?
I found the centipede in the bathroom as I was washing my "dog-fooded/licked" jeans that I wear to work. After putting two and two together, I realized that the centipede must have climbed and hid in my jeans (as i had them folded up to my calf) while i was at ISPCA.
No wonder I felt the fiery and stinging pains in my feet while driving home. Go figure.

This morning...EEK! The swelling got higher and rounder.Cripes.
Plans to run on the treadmill went right down the drain. BOO.
Of Little Kids and Abandoned Pups
Weekend:
Nieces Emilie and Ashleigh from Australia came over to Ipoh with my aunts. (Asleigh is 2 and Emilie is 5) Had a nice time entertaining them. Even though I made a comment that I "prefer dogs to little kids", I did have fun. So don't get me wrong. I didn't say i hate kids. I just like dogs better.
This is Ashleigh. She talks a lot, and I mean A LOT - in Baby Language aka Gibberish! Haha.
Apparently I have become the 'Pretty Auntie with the long hair" in Emilie's eyes! MUahaha. Wait till she grows up and looks at her auntie then. I won't be the pretty one anymore.

Managed to squeeze in some time to meet Sarala on Saturday morning. She was acting a little strange as she kept sitting herself in the drain of her kennel. Even when I pulled her out of the drain a few times, she kept going back there to sit. Strange indeed. But she's back to normal today (Monday).

Today:
Kak Atun and I found a BOX of FOUR ABANDONED PUPPIES on our way to ISPCA. And it was only because we were coming back from the shops (Atun had to do something with her cellphone). Imagine if we did not leave the ISPCA grounds at all this morning?! We wouldnt have discovered the puppies because they were abandoned at the rubbish heap junction outside on the main lorry road.
Kak Atun was very observant of the surroundings. I myself did not notice anything until she said, ,"Eh, kotak itu tak ada di sana tadi! Berhenti, mau tengok. Mana tahu orang buang puppy tak?" And true enough. Four thirsty looking pups in the box. SO CUTE and helpless. So we rescued them and housed them in ISPCA with some water and food.
How can anyone do such a thing? At least just go right up to the ISPCA front gate and leave them there - WHERE WE CAN SEE THE BOX! What if we never passed by the area? Do you know how HOT and DUSTY the lorry road can get in this haze? You'd be dehydrating and starving these little pups to death, YOU %$@(#!!!!
Plans to run at Pologround this evening - canceled. No way I am stepping out into that HORRIBLE HAZE. I already exposed myself to the horrid dust at ISPCA today. My friend Mr. Sinus will make me pay for it if i inhale anymore horrid hazy air.And that makes it 10 full JOG-FREE days. Boo. I feel so bad. I DEFINITELY HAVE TO RUN TOMORROW - the haze should be cleared by then. I hope.
Oh no! My toe! I got bitten by a centipede at ISPCA just now but I didnt think it would SWELL UP this big!?!? How am i going to run tomorrow?!?!
Love Hurts...O Sarala, my love.
Have you ever loved someone so much that your eyes well up with tears everytime you think of her? I love Sarala so much that it hurts. *ouch*. I travel 20 minutes everyday to see her, yet I miss her once I'm back home.
She waits for me everyday. I can see her standing at the edge of her kennel everytime I walk from my parked car outside the ISPCA. And I know she will give me 2 to 3 barks, beckoning me to enter her kennel.
I've never loved any living being so much as I love Sarala now. Every song I listen to on the radio reminds me of her. If only she could be by my side every moment.
I am just insanely in love - with the most beautiful creature God has made!
Buying power..muahaha!
I've been witness to the power of money! I don't deny, that most of the time, such power implies negative things about the human nature. Yet, you gotta admit, money can be used for good things too. For example:
1.
Sponsoring a lovely doggie from ISPCAI have a new DOGGIE! And her name shall be Lucy Sarala! Lucy for 'nama formal' and Sarala for 'nama manja'. *wink* She will come home with me one day - after my 2 more years in US. I am looking forward to that joyous wonderful day. I was ecstatic today when she pounced and rested her paws on my waist this morning as I entered her compound. She's finally opening up to me! *Eyes waters*
2.
Shopping at KL boleh mengeratkan hubungan!!The weekend at KL with the Chung family was an enjoyable time spent. Shopping does mengeratkan perhubungan keluarga - especially during meals. Yeh, my family is one of few that actually trade and share food at every single meal outing. Phrases like "You wanna try this?", "Try mine. Very nice", "You still want that cendol not?", etc are commonplace at the table. Occasionally, things will get spiced up with food and liquid spills followed by grumblings and "Haiyah's" from parents.
3.
Purhasing good food. No more need be said about this topic.
And since I'm head over heels in love with Sarala...I'm just throwing this in. August 2, 2005 shall be the day it all begins. My woofie doofie doo!
