The feeling that someone's onto your heels. The constant crunching of gravel from behind. The wind that carries the sound of heavy breathing. And sure enough, from the corner of your eye, the guy appears. Smug as a bushy-tailed chipmunk thinking that he can outrun you. And of course, you keep your cool. You know you like to make it seem effortless. When you're actually gradually increasing your stride, just in case. And you were right. The guy just won't let it go. But you've already completed 4 rounds and this is the final round where you sprint. You duck and dodge and run around the ppl who are in your way, and he does the same. You make the run up the incline, causing the both of you to run side by side, keeping up with each other. But you keep going faster and faster - and he's slowing falling behind. Heck you don't even know the dude! Or rather, he doesn't even know you! What was he thinking? And you go all out to the end with sweet victory on your lips. Yes. Its good to outrun the boys. After all, you're only *a girl*.
*This is such an awesome video! Boys are such big bullies*
Run Talk
1. ASICS is the acronym for the Latin phrase: anima sano in corpore sano which means a 'sound mind in a sound body'.
2. Stamata Revithi was the first woman to run a marathon in the 1896 Olympic Games but her entry was considered unofficial. Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1967. Women were not officially allowed to compete until 1972 in the Boston Marathon while it was only until 1984 that they were allowed into the Olympic Games Marathon. Wow, that's actually not too long ago from where we are now..
3. Top world runners train at high altitudes. Like in the western rim of Kenya's Rift Valley, La Paz in Bolivia, Wenzhuan in Tibet, and the Rockys in North America.
